May 2025
INTRODUCING THE FABRIC CAFÉ

Happy May 2025.  In Hawaii, the first of May, or May Day, is Lei Day. Everyone decorates with lei and gives lei as gifts of aloha. Not only is it a beautiful celebration but also wonderfully fragrant. For us here in California, May brings several days of remembrance: International Worker’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, Armed Forces Day, and Memorial Day. Wow, it is almost summer after all of that!

In this May tidbit, I would like to introduce you to the Fabric Café, famous for the 3-yard quilt, featuring two designers, Donna Robertson and Fran Morgan.  You can go to their website at welisten@fabriccafe.com to see all that they have to offer. These ladies show you that you can make some amazing quilt tops with only three yards of fabric.

At the top of the website homepage, there is a “free goodies” button you can click on for free patterns and free guide sheets to create some fabulous quilts. Especially look at the free guide sheet where you can make your own “Show Stopper” quilt that Fran highlights in a recent YouTube video. The quilt is really quite stunning as shown below.

Fran points out that if you have some favorite blocks you have used in other projects, or you have made or have seen in the past, you can put those together, united by color and fabric selection to make your own Show Stopper.  She made a really beautiful quilt with this idea.  Her free guide sheet includes step-by-step directions to show you how to create her Show Stopper Quilt.

That is it for this short and sweet tidbit.  I hope you have fun perusing the Fabric Café website and exploring all it has to offer as well as watching all the Fabric Café YouTube videos.  I think they have some 5- yard projects as well.   Fabric Café merchandise is available at their Etsy store, if you are interested in purchasing their patterns, pattern books, and other merchandise.

Have a great May.  Thank you to Shari Riter for her suggestion for this tidbit.

If you think of a topic, you would like discussed in a future educational tidbit, let me know.  I hope to be back with something for June and then I will take a break until September, unless I just have to share something I experience or something I discover. Blessings to you and your family.
